A family story
OUR STORY: ROOTS, PASSION AND FUTURE
The story of the Azienda Agricola La Gramigna begins in 1990, when our family moved to Sieci, on the hills east of Florence. With just three hectares of cultivated land, Luigi Conti began a project rooted in knowledge of the land and respect for nature. Over the years, our company grew: in 2000 we purchased the Tenuta di Cafaggio di Sopra, and in 2011 we recovered abandoned olive groves and planted prestigious monovarietals. In 2020, we inaugurated our oil mill, a symbol of modernity and sustainability.
Today, La Gramigna is an organic company that combines tradition and innovation, carrying on the oldest profession in the world with advanced technologies and a Slow Living philosophy. We cultivate beauty and produce quality, with the aim of protecting the environment, the landscape and health. Each bottle of Olio Grullo tells of our passion for olive growing and our love for an authentic and sustainable Tuscany.
The roots of our company
Our family moved to Sieci, in the hills east of Florence, where the Azienda Agricola La Gramigna is born. Initially it extended over 3 hectares of olive groves, vineyards and vegetable gardens, under the guidance of “So’ Fattore” Luigi Conti, Renata’s father.
The Cafaggio di Sopra Estate
We purchased the Tenuta di Cafaggio di Sopra, in Montefiesole, a suggestive place surrounded by a hospitality structure, expanses of olive trees and lush woods.
Renata’s new impetus
Renata joined the company, bringing new energy and supporting Luigi Conti in the daily management.
Organic recogniton
With commitment and dedication to sustainable and nature-friendly cultivation, we obtained our Organic Certification, a goal that enhances our bond with the land and its authentic rhythms.
Expansion and recovery of olive groves
We purchased new land in Sieci, expanding the farm to a total of 12 hectares. We recovered ancient abandoned olive groves and plantef new trees, dedicating ourselves with care to the cultivation of high-quality single-variety olives, a symbol of our passion for excellence
Olio Grullo is born
We reached the first pressing of Olio Grullo, a product that contains all the authentic flavor of our lands and represents the fruit of careful and patient work between olive trees and the mill.
Monteloro: history and tradition
We purchased another 12 hectares in Monteloro, a place full of history, linked to the residences of Dante Alighieri and Beatrice Portinari. On these lands, particularly suited to the production of oil, we began work to recover and expand the olive groves, with the aim of making the most of their potential.
Our sustainable oil mill
We built our oil mill in Sieci, a place where modernity and sustainable architecture meet, designed to respect the environment and guarantee the quality of our oil at every stage of processing.
A prestigious recognition
Gramigna is named “New Product of the Year” in Gambero Rosso’s Oli d’Italia Guide, a recognition that celebrates our commitment and the quality we put into every drop of our oil.
New Olive trees in Fiesole
We purchased an olive grove in Girone, in the heart of Fiesole, which extends over 6 hectares and is home to numerous centuries-old specimens, witnesses to an agricultural tradition rooted in time.
30 hectares of passion and quality
Today our company extends over 30 hectares, with 6,000 cultivated olive trees. Over the years we have grown by inaugurating our oil mill and opening our doors to the public with dedicated experiences and through our accommodation facilities. Even as we grow, we remain faithful to our philosophy: producing limited quantities of the highest quality, in full respect of natural balances and with a constant commitment to organic production.
PHILOSOPHY
Embracing Slow Living as a way of life
We are committed, every day, with our work, to safeguarding the environment, the beautiful Tuscan landscape, health and taste. We carry on with the oldest profession in the world with modern technologies, combining tradition and innovation to guarantee a sustainable future. We pursue economic growth independent of environmental degradation, through efficient management of natural resources and applying the principles of the circular economy. We spread the culture of Slow Living, as a lifestyle that aims to reclaim one’s natural rhythms, convinced that the quality of life is worth more than quantity. We produce with total respect for health and the environment, aware that every action counts. This is why in the cultivation and transformation of products we use only natural substances, in total respect of nature, its rhythms and its balances.
We live in an era where reducing environmental impact is a necessity: every day we adopt sustainable choices, contributing to the goals of the UN Agenda 2030. We produce healthy food without chemical fertilizers or pesticides, we use clean energy, we recover and recycle materials, we protect biodiversity and guarantee a safe working environment.
Our choice to be organic was mainly dictated by our family needs: we eat what we produce in our garden, in our fields, in our chicken coop. Naturally, over time, this lifestyle has opened up to friends and later, to a small market of connoisseurs. In addition to our oil, we offer organic products with an authentic taste: dried legumes, tomato puree and sauces, black cabbage pesto, and fruit compotes.
